Injuries
We can glue minor lacerations, evaluate concussions and guide return to play for athletes, assess for fractures and order x-rays when needed, reduce Nursemaid’s elbows, and remove foreign bodies from the nose and ear.
Molluscum
Molluscum is a common skin infection in children caused by a virus that results in flesh-colored bumps on the body. This rash does not have to be treated as it will eventually go away, but it can take up to a year or more. Treatment can help these bumps go away faster. There is a treatment that we use in the office called cantharidin. It is a clear liquid that we apply to each of the lesions. It is easy to apply and well tolerated.
Warts
Warts are harmless skin growths that occur when human papillomavirus infects the top layer of the skin. Treatment is not required as warts will eventually go away on their own. If treatment is desired, there are over-the-counter options available as well as in-office treatments (such as freezing the wart using liquid nitrogen). We can evaluate the wart in the office and determine which option would be best.
